  • SafeWork Australia Working Paper – The Precautionary Principle (2013). This report is yet to be made public – it discusses the complex issues around regulating substances where the toxicity is not well known so that they can be used, but under a more dynamic framework as knowledge increases.
  • I have taken an interest in the difference in our perception of shade and how plants respond to shade. These findings have been published in Dinteranthus, the journal of the Cactus and Succulent Society of Queensland (cssq.org.au) and at a national conference.

For your interest I am placing in the downloads and publications sections, a lot of (hopefully) useful information on this website, distilled from my career in health physics and occupational hygiene. This is provided as a public service – see Disclaimer. This will include –

  • 12 Costly Mistakes – some of the lesser known pitfalls that I commonly encounter
  • Information sheets for converting ppm to mg/m3, adding decibels or adjusting noise exposure limits to shifts other than 8 hours
  • My  publications – many as PDF files
  • Historical occupational hygiene articles as PDF files , some from over 100 years ago – readable, but not perfect copies. Plus a few pictures.
  • An associated Blog blog.dbohs.com. This is less formal and highlights OHS issues, sometimes linking back to this site for downloads. More recently there are posts on the COVID-19 virus – mainly the poor selection of respiratory protection.

Enjoy!

Though dbOHS could be read as “David Bromwich Occupational Health & Safety”, the business is more about preventing occupational disease than occupational injury – occupational health rather than safety. For me, it’s more interesting.

dbOHS is registered  Australia ABN 79676149575.
